Workplace Outreach Group
In conjunction with the Town of Brookline Immigrant Advancement Committee, workplace outreach has been providing resources to Brookline businesses to help them prepare for potential ICE activity/raids against their employees.
The response to this effort has been overwhelmingly positive with managers and employees thanking us for taking the time to provide them with the information and some expressing their personal concerns for the current situation.
The subcommittee has been partnered with business owners, Brookline Chamber of Commerce, and MIRA to distribute materials, raise awareness, and ensure Brookline has a written policy on immigration status.
- As of Feb 2026, the following resources have been distributed door-to-door to over 140 Brookline businesses:
- Literature spelling out steps owners can take with their employees to prepare for a possible raid.
- Signage to designate a protected, employee-only area.
- Posters that describe the legal rights of businesses and employees during a raid and how to reduce harm and deescalate the situation.
- Poster with information about the LUCE Immigrant Justice Network, ICE Alert Hotline 617-370-5023.
- These materials were also included in the Brookline Chamber of Commerce newsletter that was distributed by email to 2400 individuals and businesses.
- The subcommittee also reached out to MIRA to verify that the Town has a written policy on not providing immigrant status information to ICE.
