Join us for the Bigger Than Dobbs rally this Saturday, June 28. Literally stand up against the GOP War on Women at a standout in Coolidge Corner from 11-1. After that Activist Evenings will take a break for the July 4th week and will start up again on July 14 with postcards to VA with Swing Blue Alliance every Monday until August 25. We are part of a research project to make the postcards we write as effective as possible. The cards that we send will be followed by phone calls to the recipients in September.

We aren’t in this for the money but we do need money to do what we do. These are the last few days that Indivisible will double every donation to Activist Evenings. Please help us cover our monthly expenses ($800 for rent and supplies) and make a contribution to our community today. Any amount helps!

The Trump Tax Scam
aka The Billionaire Boondoggle Bill
aka The Maga Murder Bill
aka the BS Bill
|
In the meantime, there’s a lot to do to defeat the budget bill. Much of it is being contested even by the Senate Parliamentarian. But it hasn’t been defeated yet. Trump wants to sign this bill by the Fourth of July. It’s all hands on deck to make sure it doesn’t happen. Every delay makes it more likely that the worst of the worst of this very bad bill gets cut.
- Tell your Senators that you’d like Schumer to use every procedural tool in the book to delay a vote on it.
- Use 5 calls for a script and to be connected to your representatives. After you’ve made your calls, text your friends and encourage them to call as well.
- And join Indivisible every Wednesday and Thursday, 11-12:30 for well run phone banks to call voters in purple states to chat with them about the bill. Polling has shown that 60% of Americans don’t know what’s in the bill, but when they find out, they’re opposed. So help inform them! Here’s the link and more information.

- Stand up for Science is urging people to publicize Trump’s attack on science this summer. Do this with “micro flyers” that you print at home and distribute widely. They suggest waiting rooms, bus seats and even egg cartons! The only limit is your imagination.
- Immigration detentions by masked agents are increasing dramatically in the area. Think you see I.C.E.? Call LUCE’s hotline, 617-370-5023. Put the number in your phone so you can make a quick call and use the military mnemonic for Size, Activity, Location, Unit, Time, and Equipment (SALUTE) to help convey information they need to alert vulnerable people. And here’s another micro flyer with the hotline number.

- Force Multiplier’s Democracy Defense Fund makes it easy for you to support the three organizations doing the crucial work of taking the administration to court everywhere and anytime. Thank them with a donation for doing what we can’t- stand before a judge and insist that no one is above the law.
- Rural Ground Game is putting up posters in Virginia with the same messages as the postcards we’ve been sending. Virginia is a crucial state with a chance to flip the Governor’s mansion and the necessity of holding their Senate and House.
- Sister District makes a strong case that the real action and the greatest bang for the buck is in State Legislatures. Their research makes sure your money is well spent and the candidates they support are the ones who will provide a crucial line of defense to safeguard elections, advance voting rights, protect abortion access and more. Donate here instead of succumbing to the endless text pleas we are all receiving.

- The 5 Calls app is the easiest most effective way to have an impact.. There are over 100,000 downloads with an average 4.9 rating leading to nearly 9 million calls (it’s that easy).
- Blue states are targets. In Massachusetts, our attorney general can do more. Use this tool to reach out to blue state AGs. AND while you are at it, ask your state legislators to take a lesson from California where Democratic legislators filed the “No Secret Police Act” to ban law enforcement from hiding behind masks.
- And/or put your legislators’, the Governor’s and the Attorney General’s contact information in your phone and make calls while you are driving to work or to see friends at Activist Evenings. Siri, call Elizabeth Warren we say regularly.

There was some great news about the power of grassroots activism to defeat old guard corporatist politicians with the victory in the NYC mayoral primary of Zohran Mamdani. Progressives are celebrating and traditional politicans are feeling the ground shift beneath their tired old feet.
- Bernie Sanders urges the Democratic Party to learn some important lessons, but worries that “Too many Democratic party leaders would rather be the captains on a sinking Titanic than change course.” Read more.
- And Anand Giridharadas described the feeling of the victory party like this, “It was something at the intersection of believing sincerely again, feeling defended again, not thinking yourself crazy to want basic things. It was a feeling of dawn after a very long night.” He writes about the model that led to this improbably victory in The Ink. .
