Labor Day Actions are taking place throughout the weekend. Monday’s protest in Boston is one of nearly 1000 across the country organized by AFL-CIO, the largest federation of labor unions in the US, and dozens of partner organizations, including many unions, Indivisible, 50501, Field Team Six, 350.org, T’ruah and the Unitarian Universalist Association. Join your Activist Evenings friends to rally together. Meet us at the Brookline Hills T stop at 8:45 am.
Like you, we’ve been waiting for the next big action, this one is important! We will be parading in Boston and Seattle and standing out in a small town in Maine. No matter where you are this weekend, there will be an action you can join.
Protesting won’t change Trump but it does help build our movement. It strengthens that small voice in bystanders who are not yet speaking out. Marching with others or seeing clips of protests around the country reminds us that we are far from alone. There are millions of us willing to stand up for what we believe.
PLUS, sometimes protests have a direct impact. Tesla Takedowns took Musk down a peg or two, the CEO of Target was let go because of a decrease in profits and Bearing Witness at ICE has resulted in reduced transfers on Wednesdays. And after the massive No Kings demonstrations, Harvard stood up to the demands of the Trump adminstration setting an example that other colleges and universities might do the same.

The billionaires continue to wage a cruel war on working people, with their cronies in the administration, ICE and law enforcement backing up their attacks. This Labor Day we will continue to stand strong, fighting for public schools over private profits, healthcare over hedge funds, shared prosperity over corporate politics.
Working people built this nation and we know how to take care of each other. We won’t back down—we will never stop fighting for our families and the rights and freedoms that ensure access to opportunity and a better life for all Americans. The billionaire’s time is up.
On September 1st we will stand in solidarity with all our communities under attack and fight for real wins for all our people. In thousands of communities around the country we encourage you to take a stand with us on Labor Day. On the streets, outside the offices of the corporate criminals who are behind the attacks on our freedoms and at congressional offices. Together we will demand a world that works for all of us.
- OUR DEMANDS TO BUILD THE SOCIETY WE ALL DESERVE:
- Stop the billionaire takeover and rampant corruption of the Trump administration.
- Protect and defend Medicaid, Social Security, and other programs for working people
- .Fully funded schools, and healthcare and housing for all.
- Stop the attacks on immigrants, Black, indigenous, trans people, and all our communities.
- Invest in people not wars.
Please note: A core principle behind all our events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.

Jess Craven adds to Marc Elias’ statement that “Hope is a sober action”,. ..”we take action to feel hope—not the other way around. That’s why we—the people who act—typically feel better than people who don’t. We’ve known the thrill of unexpected impact. We’ve felt the joy of effort in community. We’ve heard lawmakers describe our power.
We know that our actions don’t guarantee the outcome we want, but we also understand that the outcome we want won’t happen without our actions.” read more
