Hi Friend,
We think we are doing all we can when a text comes in from a friend saying, “I just called the Democratic Senators who have not committed to vote against the SAVE Act. You could call them, too!” Even though it’s 9 pm and even though we are not a constituent of these Senators, we make the calls in under 10 minutes and then share the same message with 5 friends.
Activism inspires activism. And you are an activist capable of encouraging others to do just a little bit more. Bring a friend to a protest, share the fact that you write postcards and/or make phone calls with others, let people know about Activist Evenings. You and we are working to protect targeted people and communities, shore up the institutions essential to a functioning democracy, disrupt the administration’s agenda and elect defenders of democracy.

Time, but no money

- 5 Calls is a powerful tool to facilitate the phone calling makes it easy to reach the legislators who need to hear from you.
- Call your Senators and then urge everyone you know to call theirs to oppose the Save Act (a name worthy of 1984’s double think and more accurately described as the Silencing Americans Act).
- Call all of your state and federal representatives everyday and find new ways of asking them to disrupt the erosion of our rights in every way they can. Refusing to take voice votes, demanding full debates, anything that slows, derails, disrupts the GOP’s steamroller.

All of us share a stake in safeguarding that freedom.” Read the entire letter here.
- Joyce Vance writes in Civil Discouse, “If there were a map that showed democracy slipping into dictatorship, we would be at the spot marked “You are here.” We shouldn’t sugarcoat the danger. Due process matters to immigrants and Americans alike. When the presidency refuses to honor it, we are all in danger.” Read more.
